what is the difference between a wedding and baby shower?

meaning gift registries. i have been to many baby showers and they have all had gift registries, but i have never been to a wedding in my adult years where i got the invitation. so i don’t why it’s "tacky" to have a gift registry at a wedding but not a baby shower.

if im understanding it correctly, if the registry itself its what’s tacky, then shouldnt baby showers not have them either and everyone bring whatever they want.

How do you react to double gifts at a bridal or baby shower?

I already had a baby shower, and now have two bridal showers to attend in the next couple of months. This sounds silly, I’m sure, but I feel so awkward being watched as I open gifts to begin with that I really don’t know how to react when there is a double gift and everyone has already watched me open the same thing. So what was, or would be, your reaction to opening a repeat gift at a shower?

Is a baby shower important enough to decline a good friends birthday party?

Hello, I am just wondering if a "Baby Shower" is important enough to decline a friends party that I already told that I was going, now I can’t because of the baby shower? The party is tomorrow and I don’t know how to excuse without hurting her feelings. Thank you.

My sons wife is expecting her third child and she wants a baby shower, I am on a fixed disability income, but i dont want any problems so i said i will help with the cost, Her mom and her sister and a good friend of mine and my sons 7 yr old daugher are giving the shower at a restaurant, My grandchildren never call me nor my daughter in law, she is from a very cold family adn i have tried to mind my own business, They live 10 minutes away from me, Her mom when she is at their home and i am there on occasion, when you walk in the room, neither one of them bother to turn around and say hello to me or my family, my granddaugher is acting the same way, The invitations were printed out that the sister did, Her mom is first my granddaughter is 2nd, my friend is 3rd i am next to last and her sister is last, this may seem petty to people, but i gave them 125..00 last month for it, and now they want another 125.00, What do you think Is this right how i am being treated?

If you was not invited to your brothers wife baby shower and you had to ask your mom to ask her to invite you, would you go or just forget about it, Oh by the way, I was not invited to the wedding either. I did not go. I did get some things for the baby.
Me and my brother has not talked for about 15 years because he abused me and does not care that I married out of my race.
