Should I get rid of my son's crib?

my boyfriends mother bought my sons crib but he wont sleep in it I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked since hes since we got it he was five months old when she bought it and now hes 13 months old. I want to sell and get something he will sleep in but my boyfriends wants to keep it so his mothers feeling won’t be hurt. Before the crib he slept just fine in his bassinet and portable crib. since he wont sleep in his crib he now sleeps in my bed and i want him to sleep in his own bed.
