Who should get the new car?
Hi, I keep going back and forth with my husband about this car issue that we are having.
I’ll try to be brief.
I have a 5 month old baby, and I have a VERY small saturn coupe (3 doors) I got that car before the baby was in the picture, My husband has been wanting a NEWER truck for many years now, as long as we’d been together and before the baby, but he never got one…Hes current truck is falling apart, meanwhile my saturn is VERY SMALL but it’s in great condition
Well it is so hard to get the car seat, the stroller, diaper bag plus groceries or whatever else I need in my saturn, but the biggest pain in the butt to get in is basically the baby, Not to mention is not a very safe car to drive in the snow and all that. I only work 3 days per week, and the only running around that I do in the car is basically to go to the grocery store, to work and pleasure driving. My husband in the other hand needs the truck for work.
It’s hard to get the car seat in my saturn, but not impossible, it can be done.
Anyhow, as soon as we brought the baby home from the hospital we (I) knew the saturn wasnt gonna work for us with the new baby, and I wanted a new car ASAP.
But now I’m faced with the issue, My husband has been wanting a newer truck for ages, I always get what I want but he doesnt. We can’t afford 2 newer vehicles, so should I get myself a car? Or should I let my husband get his dream truck.
My husband wants ME to get a car and forget about the truck, but I feel like he deserves it more than me. Hes friend who is a dealer just found the truck that my husband have been wanting and we need to make a decision, my husband keeps saying, no I won’t get it until you get your car, but I want him to get it.
I have no clue what to do, I dont want to be selfish and always get the nicer things.
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? PLEASE ADVISE???

also, do you also think a saturn is not good with babies?

I wish more questions were as selfless and compromising as this one.
My first thought was that you should do what is best for the baby, which means getting a new car. However, after thinking about it a bit I think that _if_ you can live with the small car then the truck is going to be a better choice. A truck that is falling apart and needed for work sounds like a major problem waiting to happen. Plus, you’ve managed to survive 5 months with your car, so it can’t be THAT bad.
For a third option, do you necessarily need 2 NEWER vehicles? What if you got your husband the truck and then found a used car that was larger but slightly older? You mention that your saturn is in great condition so it’s very possible that you could get a great deal for it.
